Hello, anyone still reading this blog?
I’ve been overthinking the first line of this blog post. Maybe because, I haven’t been posting for awhile and I wanted to find a clever way to explain it. Maybe even make it sound cool and mysterious. The reality is that, my life took a very odd turn last year and I didn’t have the headspace to just sit down and blog. Then at some point, the gap became too long and it became even harder to post. But here I am, I’ve decided that this post doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to exist and help me break the hiatus. Because, as they say, getting started is half the task.
I’m glad to say that I came out the tough situation stronger and landed on my feet and feel pretty resilient. I’ve had time to learn techniques to manage my mental health. And, I finally have the headspace to get back to writing here. When I started this blog, my main motivation was to have an outlet to tell stories from my life, write about anything that fascinates me and in the process improve my writing. I’m happy to be back to do exactly that.
Here are some quotes which kept me sane when things felt upside down and inspired me to get back up when strength seemed out of reach –
“Acceptance of what has happened is the first step to overcoming the consequences of any misfortune.” – William James
“I just knew there were stories I wanted to tell.” – Octavia E.Butler
“Remember that darkness simply requires another way of seeing. Be your own light. And just like that, you’ll find yourself everywhere instantly.” – Quan Barry, We Ride Upon Sticks
